Mr. Brett Mayfield began his Japanese martial arts training in 1960 in the art Judo at Albuquerque, New Mexico.  He began his Karate and Jujutsu training in the late 1960’s and Iaido and Aikido since the early 1970’s.  

He was a State Director and Style Head for the United States Karate Association during the 1980’s. Has been a member of the United States Judo Association for many years where he has served has a State Director and Chair of a Promotion Board for USJA.  

In 1984 Mr. Mayfield became a founding member and Director of the Kokusai Budoin IMAF USA Branch. In 1989 he became the Americas Branch Director and has served in this position since this time. He has trained in Japan with his teachers many times yearly for over 25 years.
 
Mr. Mayfield has been a physician of Asian medicine for over 25 years and has studied in Japan, China, India and the USA. He was appointed as a member and Executive Secretary of the State of New Mexico Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Board from 1982 to 1984 and has served on the Board many national Asian medicine associations as well as serving as a Dean of a collage of oriental medicine. Mr. Mayfield has taught Japanese martial arts and Asian medicine throughout the World for more than 25 years.

In addition Mr. Mayfield has an extensive background in police, corrections and security work since the 1970’s. He has served as a police officer and security consultant. He has trained and taught with some of the worlds best training programs in the United States, Japan and Germany.  He has served as Director of security and communications for the USA Junior Olympic Games.  Mr. Mayfield has been awarded many national and international awards for his work in training police and security personal around the world.

This includes The John Edger Hoover Memorial Gold Medal for Distinguished Public Service Award and Instructor of the Year by the American police Hall of Fame.
